Artist Statement
Julie Fagan

The backbone of my practice is images created with, and in, a digital-virtual space. The resulting collages of digitally manipulated photographs, drawing in 2D, and structures 'built' in 3D – create a new media practice that is exhilarating and liberating offering a discourse on limits; this is a place in which anything is possible and without beginning or end.

In the series Tales from The Waiting Room there is an unfolding story of a liminal state that is both a personal story and a universal human experience. The works articulate a place of uncertainty, change and transition: being somewhere ‘in between’.

In all the works a vivid light prevails, as if on stage, presenting a play between archetype, icon and cliché. The intimate scale of works draws the viewer into scenes portraying different psychological territories and unresolved narratives.
